Tangle Operators & Validators Onboarding
Introduction
Onboarding validators and operators are key to Tangle’s success. If you’re an eligible validator or operator looking to be an early partner on Tangle, this document will outline how we can work together.
Tangle is a platform that will host a variety of yield-generated services. Operators of these services will earn real yield by providing computing to customers of Tangle Blueprints. Operators will form the foundation of the Tangle Cloud. Early adopters will benefit not only through validation incentives but also through our retroactive airdrops.
Onboarding
To onboard as a Tangle validator and operator you’ll want to follow our documentation.
To be eligible for airdrop distributions, we recommend onboarding to our Testnet in order to begin accumulating experience points in upcoming retroactive airdrops. This is also important to ensure you become familiar with running the validator and operator nodes. There is a public faucet for getting tTNT that you should use to get set up properly.
Rewards
The current rewards for validators range from 15%-50% APY on the TNT being delegated to your validator. Right now, since it is quite early it is very attractive to validate on Tangle and we would like to grow our validator set ten-fold.
Retroactive Airdrop
As we go live with Blueprints and restaking on Tangle, operators who register and operator Tangle services will receive points in the retroactive airdrop seasons. While we cannot disclose the mechanics of this system, there will be points issued and viewable on a leaderboard and each season an amount of tokens will be distributed if agreed and voted upon through the democracy governance system.
You will be eligible if you participate in all operator specific activities possible. These activities range from:
- Registering for blueprints
- Operating services for lengths of time.
- Building new service offerings or submitting PRs or new extensions to Tangle’s validator infrastructure.
- Contributing to Tangle’s open source operator software ecosystem through PRs or utilities for streamlining onboarding new operators.
- Recruiting new operators to Tangle.
